Patients don't just search anymore — they ask ChatGPT who to see. So we measured the answer. We asked for the best dentist in 23 Florida & Texas metros, 5 different ways each — 130 checks in all — and recorded every practice it named.

Measured August 5–21, 2026 on ChatGPT (gpt-4o, with web search): 23 metros × 5 question phrasings = 130 checks. No other AI system is included in these numbers. How we measured it
Earlier editions of this board were measured on a different AI assistant and covered five Texas metros. This edition is ChatGPT only: 20 Florida metros measured August 5, 2026, plus Austin, Dallas and Houston re-measured on the same instrument August 21, 2026 (each question asked twice there, so those boards count out of 10 checks). Names and percentages can differ from an older screenshot of this page — the market didn't change, the measurement did.
The big chains don't own the answer.
Corporate dental chains took only about 7% of ChatGPT's recommendations in our benchmark. More than 9 out of 10 went to independent, local practices — the dentists patients are actually told to see. This list is their scoreboard.

- What is a holistic dentist?A holistic dentist is a licensed dentist who describes their practice that way — it is not one of the 12 dental specialties the ADA's National Commission recognizes. What the term covers, how biological and naturopathic differ, and what to verify.
- What do holistic dentists do instead of root canals?Practices that decline root canals generally extract the tooth and replace it with an implant or a bridge. Where the objection comes from, what the American Association of Endodontists publishes in response, and the questions to ask.
- How long will a root canal take?Most root canals take 60 to 90 minutes and one or two visits. What fills that time, why a molar runs longer than a front tooth, and why the crown is a separate appointment.

How did you measure which Florida & Texas dentists ChatGPT recommends?
We asked ChatGPT the questions real patients ask — like "Who is the best dentist near me?" — 5 different ways, and recorded every practice recommended. Each practice on this list was named in more than one of those answers, and we publish how many named it rather than a place in a ranking — ask ChatGPT again and the top name often changes, but the count holds. We ran 130 checks for this market and compared the answers against the 6,506 Florida & Texas practices in our dataset.
Can a dentist pay to be on this list?
No. This list is measured, never sold. A practice appears on it only if ChatGPT actually recommended it when we asked. Money cannot buy a place on this list. Sponsored blocks are labeled advertising and sit outside the ranked list.
What does it mean if a practice is NOT on this list?
It means that when we asked ChatGPT for a dentist in Florida & Texas, that practice never came up. That says nothing about the quality of their work — only that patients who ask AI for a recommendation are being sent somewhere else. Most practices haven't shown up in AI answers yet, so the list is short.
How often is this updated?
We re-run the same benchmark quarterly with the same methodology, so practices that improve their AI visibility can appear in the next update. This edition was measured in August 2026.
What if something on this page about my practice is wrong?
Tell us at /corrections and we will check it against the source. A wrong name, phone number, address, licence or service is a defect and we fix it. A ranking is different: it is a measurement of what ChatGPT answered, so it is never for sale and by the same rule never removable or editable on request. A number you can talk us out of would not be worth publishing.
